Slitter Operator
We are currently seeking a Slitter Operator for a leading company in global packaging solutions, located in Elk Grove Village, IL.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Core Cutting and Multiple Roll Wrapping Department Machines.
- Cut cores to size for the slitter, ensuring proper supplies of cores for Slitting Jobs.
- Weigh plastic rolls, label them properly, and wrap rolls according to Job Order specifications.
- Palletize rolls and deliver them to the finished goods area.
- Follow GMP’s, PRP’s, production SOP’s, 5S, and DTM.
- Complete paperwork and data entry in the Shop Floor system.
- Participate in SPS Pillar Teams as needed, including LCE/5-star Participation.
- Perform quality checks prior to running jobs, including reading Customer Specs.
- Conduct a final inspection of rolls according to the Final Inspection procedure.
- Ensure that Allergen Control requirements are applied during the slitting of Combo jobs.
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions to department leads and managers immediately.
- Uphold quality and safety standards along with safe operational procedures.
- Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Report all Food Safety violations to management.
- Follow all safety rules.
- Perform DTM before starting work on the Machine.
- Assist in performing PM on the Machine when scheduled.
- Issue a Work Order when the Machine or Parts are required, following MVP procedures.
- Communicate pertinent matters of the machine or job during Shift Change.
Educational Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent job experience.
Training Requirements:
- Review Company (Corporate and Divisional) policies and procedures.
- Personal Safety.
- GMP, 5s, Sweet Sheet, and DTM Training.
- Food Safety and QUALITY Systems requirements and procedures.
- Explanation of departments and their roles.
- EFI Procedures, codes, and customer specifications.
- Safety procedures, lifting and bending, Forklift Certification.
- Inspection of rolls for visual defects prior to wrapping, blow air on sides.
- Understanding the order for shipping, how many rolls on a pallet, special instructions.
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Daily housekeeping procedures before starting work.
Physical, Mental, and Visual Demands:
- Moderate to heavy physical effort performing duties/work activities; lift up to 50 lbs.
- Personal Protective Equipment required.
- Good Communication Skills.
- Must be able to stand or walk for up to 12 hours.
- Continuous Mental/Visual attention required.
Shift Details:
- 2nd Shift - 5:45 pm to 6:15 am - Continuous Work schedule.
Pay Rate:
- $19.84 base rate plus $2.00 shift differential.
